Race fans who already Live United might notice a familiar logo in Saturday’s  Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 race.  The Live United mantra and the United Way logo will be proudly displayed on ARCA’s #82!

Empire Racing announced their continuing support of the United Way for the 2012 season. Heading into the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Daytona Lucas Oil 200, they will be running the United Way Military Family Assistance Project Text “SALUTE” to 50555.

The program is aimed to benefit The Family Assistance Project which supports programs that serve returning Military, Reservist and National Guard personnel that were active in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn and their families.

“United Way of Long Islan is excited and humbled by Empire Racing’s generous offer to get race fans involved in helping increase our military funds,” said Theresa Regante, President & CEO of United Way Long Island.

The Empire team has also extended their generosity to the local United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, based in Daytona Beach, home of the World Center of Race, the Daytona International Speedway.

“This program is something we can all relate to,” said racer Sean Corr.  “We look at this program as a way to give back to all the men and women who sacrifice it all for the freedoms we enjoy everyday.” Empire Racing will be donating all race winning from this event to the project.

Through the continued generosity of Target on ISB & Williamson, we will be monitoring the parking lots during the upcoming Speedweek races! This has always been a VERY successful fundraiser thanks to our dedicated parkers and volunteers.

RACE FANS:
If you are choosing to pay to park for the races, please consider parking at the Target lot! Not only will 100% of the proceeds be going to the United Way, but you will have a convenient location to park with walking access to shopping (for those last minute items) and food. Many of our visitors also like the quick access to Williamson after the races are over to help avoid some of the race day traffic.  Prices TBA.

First of all, thank you to the many faithful volunteers who come out year after year to help us with this event. As always, we’ll need volunteers to take money & hand out passes, help run the lot, directing traffic, and assist with set up & break down.

The Flagler County Women’s Initiative is making a difference in Flagler County.  In addition to the food and money raised during the Feed Flagler drive, the group also recently raised more than $8,000 to support the new Mobile Benefits Program.  This initiative helps families and individuals get signed up for assistance programs that they already qualify for.

VyStar Credit Union Employees and United Way's Alicia Casas

The United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties is pleased to announce the September, 2011 recipient of the Live United Community Award is Vystar Credit Union.

Vystar was selected for this award based on their commitment to Live United through giving, advocating and volunteering with the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.  Since 2009 the company has allowed employees to make donations to the United Way through payroll deduction.  The employees are also very active volunteers in the community.  They participated in the 2011 King Day of Service, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, supporting the Women’s Initiative of Flagler County and held food drives.   In addition, VP Isidro R. “Gage” Gajo served on the United Way and Bright House Netorks’ Outstanding Volunteers of the Year Luncheon panel.
